What does the Qur'an say about time?

In three short verses, the Qur'an swears by time itself and delivers a verdict on all of humanity: we are in loss — except those who believe, do good, and hold one another to truth and patience. Imam ash-Shafi'i said if people reflected only on this surah, it would be enough for them.

“By time, Indeed, mankind is in loss, Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.”— 103:1-3 (Saheeh International)
