What does the Qur'an say about racism and equality?

The Qur'an settles the question of race in a single verse: all people come from one man and one woman, made into nations and tribes only so we would know one another — and the only rank that counts with Allah is righteousness, not color, wealth, or lineage.

“O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.”— 49:13 (Saheeh International)
