The Qur'an speaks about orphans with unusual tenderness and firmness at once: never oppress them, never wrongfully consume what is theirs, and care for them as you would your own. It is among the clearest measures of a sincere heart.
“So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him].”— 93:9 (Saheeh International)
“And give to the orphans their properties and do not substitute the defective [of your own] for the good [of theirs]. And do not consume their properties into your own. Indeed, that is ever a great sin.”— 4:2 (Saheeh International)
