What does the Qur'an say about Jesus (Isa)?

The Qur'an holds Jesus (Isa, peace be upon him) in deep honor — as the Messiah, a word from Allah given to Maryam, and a mighty prophet. In his own words in the Qur'an, he declares himself the servant of Allah, given Scripture and made a prophet.

“[Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet."”— 19:30 (Saheeh International)
“O Mary, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary - distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allah].”— 3:45 (Saheeh International)
