What does the Qur'an say about gratitude (shukr)?

The Qur'an ties gratitude directly to increase: the more thankful a person is, the more Allah gives. Gratitude is not just a feeling but a form of worship.

“And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, "If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe."”— 14:7 (Saheeh International)
