Adam (peace be upon him) was the first human, created by Allah and honored as a successor on earth. When he slipped and ate from the forbidden tree, he did not despair — he turned back to Allah, and Allah taught him the words of repentance and accepted him.
“And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority."...”— 2:30 (Saheeh International)
“Then Adam received from his Lord [some] words, and He accepted his repentance. Indeed, it is He who is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful.”— 2:37 (Saheeh International)
