What do you say when someone dies in Islam?

When death reaches someone, a Muslim returns to the words the Qur'an teaches: we belong to Allah, and to Him we return. Then we pray for the one who has gone — for their forgiveness and mercy.

“Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.”— 2:156 (Saheeh International)
“Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established.”— 14:41 (Saheeh International)

Ask Noor can give you the duas for the deceased in Arabic and transliteration and how to pray for them.
